Some adults will never grow up. They still think that providing sex education to the children or teenagers of today is against the Indian culture. I never knew that imparting education is against the culture. Every second day we are hearing about someone getting raped or molested.
We all are missing a big point here. The world has shrunk because of internet and whatever the information these kids want they can easily get from the internet.
There was a research done by one of the NGO’s in India which stated that the average age of girls starting menstruation has come down from 15 years to 13years which clearly shows that the kids are growing really fast and it is imperative that they are provided the right education at the right age. There is no point in avoiding imparting sex education because the teenagers will find out for themselves the information they want but the problem is that information can misguide them and lead to a bigger social issues like unwanted pregnancy, rape, murder etc.
It is preposterous to think that sex education will harm the young minds, infact a good sex education is not only about sessions on sexual intercourse or how a girl/guy masturbates and neither it is all about the genital differences, but host of other issues that involve human sexuality like respect for the opposite sex, understanding your own body and being comfortable with it rather cursing it, having a high self esteem and healthy interaction with the opposite sex and treating everyone with dignity.
Sex is physical but sexuality is about the mind. Sex education is about empowering the kids with right values so that they know the difference between what is good for them and what is not , so that a brave new world is born which consists of trust, care, respect and harmony among the members of both the sex. Let better sense prevail among the so called intellectuals aka hypocrites who are against it, Amen!!

I totally agree wid d issue you have raised Jay.. Although much discussed and aclaimed, not many people have come out in support of it..
Its hi-time dat ppl realize d gravity of d situation and d mantles of layers involved in it and start accepting it..
But of course, today, it has become an easy tool to gain cheap publicity and attention along wid political mileage..
Alas, as I have said earlier, Yeh India hai Boss, Idhar sab aise hi chalta hai..
I agree with you Jay. Though we say that there is information overflow on internet, only a few websites give scientific knowledge about it. If you key in the words 'sex education' or 'sexuality education' in Google, a whole bunch of sites will open which contain pornography. In this scenario, how will the kids get scientific information? we can't say that websites are authentic.
Also, I have seen may girls and guys also, who don't have adequate knowledge about sexuality even at the age of 22-25. Girls mostly don't know much because society thinks of it as a taboo subject, and they feel shy to ask any questions that come to their minds.
Generally boys do have this misconception that they know 'everything' about sex. They certainly know about intercourse and condoms etc, but they do not have much knowledge about the processes that happen in a woman's body. sure, they know about menstruation, but they don't know about the monthly hormone cycle, how it takes place, how that brings about mood swings and PMS etc.
If both the genders know about these things, they will be able to understand each other better, and will have healthy relationships. For this, the subject should be discussed out in the open, and children should be educated, step by step from 3rd-4th standard; first about hygiene, then about other factors related to sexuality.
good that you provided a platform for discussion.
Perfect topic to discuss on at a perfect moment. We,Indians, are still living in a culture
shell due to which we find it uneasy to accept the realities of life.We ppl crib, grief about
things that go wrong due to no/inadequate knowledge about the 3 letter word "SEX" but when
it comes to creating awareness about the same which is the root cause of all issues,we shy
away.
Nowadays, the situation has worsened so much that even a 2-3yrs kids are not spared which
makes me think sometimes, that the world has reached such a stage that as soon as a child
comes out of the mother's womb, the child should be provided SEX education.
It's really absurd that inspite of all this hard facts of life, ppl still oppose the
imparting of sex education in schools & colleges.
Such blogs should be read by Indian culture-struck people!!!
Keep up the good work,Jay!!
this 1 is totally rocking bro..:))..my favorite topic.
Sex education is a must now-a-days. I am still ready for it. :))
Maybe next time a girl gets rude to us...we can relate it to her mood swings rather than our nonsense acts..:))
very well penned down Jay.
a sensitive topic expressed very sensibly
i completely respect ur concern n ur thoughts regarding dis issue, but d thing is dat i think u cldve written dis blog more like a guy/ girl conversation where they "really" dont know much abt each other despite being given so called "sex edu". 2 me personally it is entirely senseless in d way dis edu is given 2 children. it is given so much at d base level dat after giving dem limited knowledge dey indulge into "acts" 2 find out more as their curiosity is raised but q's not answered....
